About This Spot

Golden Chopsticks feels like a familiar corner of the neighborhood where the warmth of tradition meets the hum of everyday life. Stepping inside, the pace slows just enough to settle into something comfortably unpretentious—a place where families and longtime locals gather, sharing laughter and stories over generous portions thoughtfully prepared from scratch.

The atmosphere is inviting without fuss, marked by the steady rhythm of orders moving out of the kitchen and plates arriving just as anticipation builds. There’s an honest simplicity here, where the focus is on satisfying hunger and nurturing connection rather than filling silent spaces with background noise or flashy decor.

What makes Golden Chopsticks quietly special is how the flavors carry you beyond the immediate — the kind of cooking that invites you to savor each bite, whether it’s a dish with just the right balance of seasoning or something crisped to a satisfying texture. The generosity of the servings encourages sharing, turning a meal into a communal experience that’s both casual and memorable. The staff contributes to this welcoming vibe with friendly, attentive service that never feels hurried, adding to the sense of being valued as more than just another order.

Hidden in plain sight, this spot offers a comforting kind of rhythm — a place to come home to food made with care, whether you’re a devoted regular or a first-time visitor seeking that honest taste of authentic flavors. It’s the kind of restaurant where you feel seen, fed, and ready to return.

I ordered the fried wings with garlic. They were so scrumptious. I also tried the fried rice with shrimp wow so delicious with added soy sauce. The portions are enough for four people. The price for the meal is fair, large potions and made fresh. You can't go wrong here the service was excellent as always. Highly recommend this family restaurant, it's so worth the drive from North County.

We arrived at 9:05pm and there was 1 other family there. We were seated promptly. We ordered 3 appetizers to start, Vegetable Egg Rolls, Pan fried Dumplings and Wonton cream cheese. The appetizers arrived quickly, and they were good. For entrees, we ordered 2-Salt and Pepper Wings, Chicken Fried Rice, Chicken Chow mein, and Salt and Pepper Fish. We loved everything except for the Salt and Pepper Wings. The wings didn’t really have that salt and pepper taste, it tasted like dry fried chicken. The service was good, the server was very attentive with us. We didn’t have to ask for a water refill. Overall it was a good experience and the food was great.

If you love shrimp fried rice, theirs is the best I have had in California!!! Their Salt Pepper Fried chicken and spicy pork chops are also can't miss. The other dishes were good but not great, including orange chicken and Mongolian beef. Food comes real fast and is always fresh. The service is very friendly. The prices are good for the amount of food and quality of food. The only negative thing is the location, in a strip mall, is very basic. But parking is never a problem!

So there are tons of Chinese spots in SD. My favorite is Golden Chopsticks!! They are In my top five places to get salt and pepper chicken wings in the U.S. and I stand by that 100% The wings are crispy on the outside but tender and juicy in the middle. They are seasoned to perfection. Everything else is great but you come for the salt and pepper chicken wings!!

We went here on a friend's recommendation, and they were absolutely right—everything was delicious! We ordered the orange chicken, Peking pork chops, and salt n pepper wings. The food was perfectly cooked; the pork chops especially were incredibly crunchy on the outside. The sauces were nice and thick and sweet, and underneath that wonderful crunch, the meat was juicy and delicious. The service was also very friendly, and we received our food really quick. A great restaurant overall!

My all time favorite Chinese restaurant in Southbay. My daughter decided to treat me out for lunch and as always, has to order an army full of dishes. That’s her! Golden Chopstix has never disappointed, even 30 plus years later. And, what better way in honoring my parents and their spirit, we continue to dine in at Chopstix. It was their favorite Chinese restaurant too. In past decades, our family had celebrated many birthdays, anniversaries and just because. Even when relatives from out of state or out of country would visit, Golden Chopstix was usually our go-to. The food is always served hot, fresh, and delicious. Side note, the salted pepper chicken wings were not so tasty, it was missing the seasoning(s)we’re use to. The crunch and crispiness was still there. Hey, there’s nothing wrong with cooks having an “off” day, right. We didn’t bring this up to the server, as we felt it was minor issue. The rest of the dishes were on point and delicious, as always. The staff are more friendlier and accommodating than other local Chinese restaurants in Southbay. Servers are usually attentive and good about clearing dirty dishes and making sure kids are taken care of (hi chairs, baby cups, etc). The restaurant’s decor is set in traditional Chinese style and color. The place is spacious and kept clean. Before closing, I do want to highlight the fried crispy green beans. They were extra delicious, generously portioned, and cooked to perfection. Im not a fan of green beans, but I am now. It’s a must-try dish at Golden Chopstix. If you haven’t tried Golden Chopstix, it’s time to make it over and enjoy the variety of dishes. There has to be one to several delectable dishes you will end up liking
